Our season starts at home on Friday 21 September in a visit from Cheshire Phoenix and our first away game will be the following weekend with a short trip over the boarder to long-time BBL rivals Glasgow Rocks.
Following the withdrawal from the league by Leeds Force after last season a new team joins the 12 top-flight clubs in British Basketball in the form of the London City Royals who get their first taste of on-court action from our Eagles on Friday 5 October. The Royals will be playing out of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and our 2018-19 squad will have their first visit there at the end of November.
The regular season will run until the final weekend of April ahead of the Play-Offs with the finale held at London’s O2 Arena for the sixth successive year on Sunday 19 May.
The format for the BBL Cup this season sees last season’s top 4 teams in the Championship, including our Eagles, receive a bye to the Quarter-Finals on the weekend of the 16-18 November. The 8 remaining BBL teams will take part in Round 1 with an open draw conducted at each stage of the competition. The date of the final is set for Sunday 27 January at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
For the BBL Trophy the 12 Championship clubs will be joined by 4 non-BBL teams in the first round, as in previous years, but this season the format will see a competition bracket used meaning only one draw is necessary. Round 1 will be played on the weekend of 21-23 December leading up to the final on Sunday 10 March once again at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
As with previous years the culmination of the campaign sees the top 8 teams from the Championship regular season advance to the Play-Offs, where a seeding format (1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5) is used to determine the Quarter-Finals before the highest and lowest remaining seeds meet in the Semi-Finals.
