Cameron Christon will fly up from Bristol to Newcastle and join Marc Steutel’s new-look Eagles roster for the 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) season.

The 6’6 former Flyer is the latest to be confirmed for the new campaign tip-off on Tyneside, his fourth season in top-flight British basketball.

Christon is well known in the SLB after signing for the Bristol SLB franchise in January of this year, on the back of his first two seasons as a professional at Cheshire Phoenix.

The guard/forward lifted the 2024 Trophy with the North West outfit, where he averaged double figures and ranked second in the league for points per minute.

“Playing against Newcastle in my previous years in this league has always been a challenge due to the energy Vertu Arena can provide,” said Christon.

“I’m very excited to join this club, be an Eagle and feed off the energy the fans bring. Let’s go Eagles!”


Christon was part of the Cheshire Phoenix team that lifted the 2024 Trophy.

The former NCAA Division 1 player graduated from Grambling State University in 2023 and, as well as those two seasons at Cheshire, played professional in Mexico in 2025.

Last season for Bristol, the American averaged 9.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Late in the season, he scored 17 points against the Eagles, helping the Flyers to a 94–75 victory over his new employers.

“Cam was someone we identified very early in our recruitment process as a player who fits exactly what we want this team to represent,” said Eagles head coach Marc Steutel.

“He is an outstanding competitor who impacts the game in so many different ways and brings a level of toughness and consistency that we really value.


“Beyond his basketball ability, Cam is a brilliant teammate and someone who genuinely cares about winning.

“We believe there is another level to his game at this point in his career and we’re excited to see him do so in Eagles colours.

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming Cam to Newcastle and I know our supporters will quickly appreciate everything he brings to this group.”

Christon becomes the second Eagles recruit this week to switch allegiances in the SLB, following the earlier announcement of Kyle Carey’s move from Manchester Basketball.
