Newcastle Eagles have added more forward power to their 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) roster with the signing of Adam Hamilton.

Hamilton joins the Eagles for his second season as a professional after a rookie year between Türkiye’s Manisa Basket and completing the season in Greece.

The 6’9 centre/forward played in the Greek second tier Elite League for GS Ermis Shimatariou, where he averaged 7.8 points 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

“I’m so excited to be an Eagle and can’t wait to play in front of our amazing fans at the Vertu Arena”, said Hamilton.

“The SLB is a great league, and I’m ready to bring my experience to the team and help us win. I’m looking forward to a fantastic season ahead.”

Newcastle head coach Marc Steutel brings a real presence to his roster with the Arizonan native, who in his last season at NCAA Division 1 Lamar University in 2025 saw him voted to the Southland Conference’s defensive team of the year.

The 24-year-old high-energy American stood strong in his senior campaign with 1.7 blocks and 7 rebounds per game.

“Adam is such an important piece of our recruitment this summer and we’re delighted to welcome him to Newcastle”, said Steutel.

“He brings a physical presence, experience beyond his years and a hunger that we felt was essential for how we want this team to play.

“He understands his role within winning teams and has consistently demonstrated his ability to impact games through his toughness, rebounding, defending, finishing and willingness to do whatever is required for the group.

“Just as importantly, he’s someone who will fit seamlessly into the Newcastle Eagles culture.

“We’re excited to get Adam into the building and I know he’ll quickly establish himself as an integral member of this team in our pursuit for silverware”.

Hamilton and his new Eagles teammates will tip-off in the SLB late September, with fixtures due to be announced in the coming days.

Pre-season clashes are already on the books as Steutel’s new-look side face Surrey, Caledonia and Sheffield at the start of next month with tickets are available now from the box office.
