Newcastle Eagles announce Cordasia Harris as the newest recruit to their 2026/27 Women’s Super League Basketball (SLB) roster.

The 6’1” forward comes with a reputation for her strong inside play at both ends of the floor and is expected to have a big impact in head coach Chloe Gaynor’s new-look side.

After spending three successful seasons at Alabama State University, Harris switched to the University of South Alabama for her senior campaign.

At the South Alabama Jaguars, the state-native played 35 games averaging 11 points 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game before graduating this summer.

“The addition of Cordasia to our roster bolsters our interior presence”, said Gaynor.

“Cordasia has had a successful career across the NCAA and NJCAA where she has dominated the boards, been a consistent defensive presence and a problem in the paint.

“We look forward to welcoming Cordasia to the Eagles this season and are excited for her to bring her relentless energy to the team!”

Harris was ranked in the national top 40 in double-doubles, blocks and rebounds and led the Jaguars, where she was a co-captain, in field goal percentage at 53.7%.

Harris is building up to her first season in Europe by keeping her skills honed with Oakland Swish of the Women’s Premier Basketball Association in the USA whilst she awaits her journey to Newcastle.

The Swish are currently third in the standings with a 6 – 3 record and Harris is still playing and averaging 8.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. She should be game-ready when she arrives as a new Eagle and is looking forward to the challenge.

Harris said: “I’m truly excited for this next chapter with the Newcastle Eagles. I’m looking forward to challenging myself, continuing to grow as a player and as a person, building strong relationships with my teammates, and doing whatever I can to help the team succeed.

“It’s an honor to represent the Eagles, and I’m ready to give everything I have on and off the court this season.”

The Eagles women’s opening SLB Championship tip-offs are available to book now from the box office and the team have an upcoming pre-season tip-off still to be announced.
