Friday night’s thrilling win over London Lions thanks to an amazing late last quarter comeback was significant and not just because it preserved our League standing and kept another run going but because it enable this set of players to be matched against one of the great teams in British Basketball history.

Our 29 – 1 game run since the opening day defeat against Worcester is the best 30 game record in The BBL since the mighty Kingston team of 1990 managed the same feat.

That side was coached by none other than Kevin Cadle and included such great names as Alton Byrd, Martin Henlan, Martin Clark, Lorenzo Duncan, Alan Cunningham, Trevor Gordon and Mick Bett amongst its ranks. They also reached the last 8 of a European Competition which was the forerunner of today’s EuroLeague.

It shows just how well our current side is playing to be able to emulate such a great and long standing record.
