Newcastle Eagles will be without the on-court presence of Maceo Jack for the remainder of this Super League Basketball (SLB) season following an ankle injury he sustained during last weekend’s away win at Surrey 89ers.

Despite continuing the game, showing his trademark toughness for the Eagles, diagnosis from the club’s medical team this week means that Jack will take no further part in action.

The medical team anticipates that the 6’5 guard will make a full recovery and the club will be supporting him throughout that process, however the timeline his return will be post the culmination of the 2026 SLB Play-Offs.

Eagles Men’s head coach Marc Steutel said: “On behalf of the club and our amazing fans, I want to thank Maceo for his commitment, unwavering professionalism and willingness to fight for the team, doing whatever has been requested of him.

“I have never had anything but respect and admiration for Maceo. His hunger to win and work-ethic is unmatched, and I really believe in him.

It’s a massive blow for both Maceo and to our group, but the saving grace for him on a personal level is that he is going to be able to make a return to fitness this summer.”

Maceo will remain at the club for the remainder of the 2025/26 calendar, supporting his teammates and coaching staff from the sidelines, as they in turn support him in his rehabilitation process.
