The Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles are delighted to announce their first signing for the 2023/24 Women’s British Basketball League season.

They have re-signed a firm fans favourite in Abby Lowe who will play a full part from the start of the regular season after originally re-joining the club in February this year after a spell in France.

Lowe managed to play eight games to help Newcastle make the end of season play-offs last campaign and averaged 6.4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.3 steals per game in that time.

Head Coach Noelia Cacheiro is delighted to have Lowe back amongst her ranks particularly with the chance to work with her in pre-season and then throughout the women’s league regular season.

“I’m looking forward to having Abby in for a full season,” said the Eagles play-caller.

“Abby brings energy to the team every time she steps on the court. She had a great impact last year coming in against top opponents, so I am confident Abby will show the Eagles’ fans her full potential this coming season.“

“Having her in from preseason will allow Abby to understand our style of play and no doubt, play a key role in this season’s squad”.

Lowe herself is in no doubt that she’s where she wants to be with the opportunity to be part of the forward-thinking Eagles franchise.

“I’m very happy to be back in an Eagle’s jersey this season playing before our amazing fans,” Lowe added.

“It’s a privilege to be part of a club that brings such a brilliant community together.”

Overall this will be the fourth season that Abby Lowe has suited up for Newcastle with a spell at Durham Palatinates as well as in France under her belt.

You can see Lowe in action at the Eagles women’s first regular season game against Caledonia Gladiators on Saturday 28 October at 7:30pm.
