The Newcastle Eagles have turned to the entente cordiale and added a bit of Gallic flair to their roster with the signing of the first ever Frenchmen to wear the famous black and white.

Sade Aded Hussein is a 6’9” power forward with professional experience in his home country and abroad having played Pro-B and NM1 in France and latterly in Sweden and Latvia last campaign with Umea BSKT and Valga-Valka.

The 26-year old was already aware of the Eagles when the offer came to play in the BBL.

“One of my best friends was showing me the team and the facility earlier in the summer so when my agent told me that the team was interested in me, I already knew everything I needed to know on the Eagles. It made it easy to sign.”

Having had the opportunity to research The Eagles and the BBL, Hussein is aware of the tradition and make-up of both and feels that it is a competitive league that is growing in stature and one he’s looking forward to playing in.

“I’ll bring everything I can do for the team, defence, shots and rebounds. I’m a student of the game I probably watch as much videos as the assistant coach!”

“To the Eagles fans, I can only promise you that you will have everything I have at every game all year long. Fans are the reason I’m able to live the dream of being a professional basketball player and my way to thank you for that is to give it all to defend our city – go Eagles!”

Another signing over the line and through the door, Flournoy had this to say about his newest acquisition:

“Sade is a really talented young player who has already played consistently at a high level in France. He is 6’9” with a big wingspan and an excellent basketball IQ. We think this could be a break out season for him and that he fits perfectly with the nature of the BBL”
