The fixtures for the 2008/09 BBL Championship season have been announced, along with the draw for the BBL Cup and the BBL Trophy groups.
The new campaign opens with a bang as the reigning league champions, the Newcastle Eagles, host the BBL Championship Playoff and Trophy double winners, the Guildford Heat, at the MetroRadio Arena on Friday 26th September.
The opening night also sees the Marshall MK Lions – BBL Cup winners and losing finalists in the playoffs – host the BiG Storage Cheshire Jets, whilst the SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks welcome the Sheffield Sharks.
The following night brings a tough start to life in the top flight for the Worthing Thunder, as they host South- Coast rivals the Plymouth Raiders on Saturday 27th September; the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders and PAWS London Capital also raise the curtain on their respective seasons in the East Midlands.
The first weekend of the new season concludes with the Capital hosting the Lions and the Jets welcoming the Worcester Wolves, from whom they recently snatched point guard Chuck Evans, on Sunday 28th September.
