Next season we will celebrate our 25th as Newcastle Eagles and so to mark this occasion we have been going through the archives to pull together this collection of every team photo since that first ‘Eagles’ tip-off in 1996, along with the names of everyone both on the court and on the bench.
The most recent squad picture, of our 24th Eagles team, was taken just days before our 25th silverware win in the 2020 BBL Trophy Final.
While we all stay at home to protect the NHS and social care and save lives throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and BBL season postponement, our “Eagles Nest-In” video series during this lockdown is looking back at historic games in our club’s 25 years on Tyneside. Each episode features a conversation with the people involved, both on and off the court, including many of those you will see in these photos.
We will be looking back at that inaugural season in Newcastle as the ‘Comets’, the history leading up to that big move from Wearside and talking to some of the people involved at that time on an “Eagles Nest-In” episode soon, but until then we hope you enjoy this big trip down ‘Eagles’ memory lane.
