Newcastle Eagles have new opposition for the 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) season as British basketball’s top-flight adds a landmark 10th men’s franchise, Liverpool Basketball.

The new club will begin competing in the upcoming campaign, with M&S Bank Arena serving as its home venue on the Liverpool waterfront.

Today’s announcement represents part of the SLB’s development plans and the first of new long-term investment in the league.

The franchise is owned by Kings Dock Sports Group Ltd, the sports holding company founded by media executive and sports investor, Jason Dolan.

Dolan said: “We are building for decades – not seasons. That’s why Liverpool was the clear choice.

Over the coming weeks, the new club will unveil its identity, staffing appointments, coaching and playing roster, alongside a community programme designed to inspire participation and provide pathways for the young talented players across Liverpool.

Fixtures for the men’s 2026/26 SLB season are set to be released imminently with an updated format folding in the new franchise.
