Newcastle Eagles Women will tip-off their 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) season this October in another exciting campaign for the franchise.
Unveiled today by the SLB, the season begins for the Eagles away on Sunday 4 October at Leicester Riders followed by the home opener on Sunday 11 October against Nottingham Wildcats.
It is a season that will see some big battles for silverware, as the head coach Chloe Gaynor’s women prepare to compete for the Championship, Betty Codona Cup and Play-Off titles.
All 10 SLB sides will play each other two times in the Championship season, completing an 18-game regular season, with all home games but the Eagles’ opening tip taking place on Saturday nights at the Vertu Arena.
The Women’s Cup competition, which will be renamed in honour of British basketball pioneer Betty Codona in absence of the long-running Trophy campaign, takes centre stage in January.
The pool phase of the competition occupies the first month of 2027, with 10 teams split into two pools (north and south) before the top two in each section advance to the semi-finals, which take place in February ahead of the first showpiece final of the season on Sunday 21 March, with venue information to be confirmed by the SLB in due course.
As the regular season concludes on Saturday 10 April, the stage will be set for the 2027 Women’s Play-Offs, where this year for the first time in the history of the league, the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be two-legged showdowns (home and away) with the aggregate winner advancing to the next stage.
What is sure to be an incredible 2026/27 season its climax at the SLB Play-Off Finals on Sunday 17 May at The O2, London, where the Play-off champions will be crowned.

Women’s season tickets are available now from just £95 for the full season of action with the Early Bird offer. Single game tickets will go on sale next month ahead of the first Vertu Arena tip-off in October.
