Newcastle Eagles women continue to build a platform for sustained success on and off the court after strengthening the team’s partnership with train operator Lumo.
The firm has emerged as a key player on the East Coast Main Line — linking Edinburgh with London and carrying thousands of North East passengers every year.
Those happy customers included Matt Newby’s playoff final-bound roster in May and the Newcastle playcaller said: “It’s great to be working with Lumo again.
“The Eagles women’s team continues to broaden its reach on and off the court and support like this is invaluable.
“To be able to travel to London comfortably and direct can make the world of difference to our players in terms of their pre-match preparation.
“We were so well looked after by the Lumo teams around the playoff final earlier this year and we can’t wait to do it all over again!”
Lumo’s distinctive logo will be loud and proud across the backs of Newby’s roster throughout the 2024/25 season in their first sponsorship of a women’s team.
Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Lumo, said: “At Lumo we’re proud to play an active part in supporting many groups and organisations contributing to the region’s success story.
“We’re especially excited to be launching our partnership with the Newcastle Eagles women.
“All the team at Lumo wish both the men’s and women’s teams continued success and we hope we’ll be welcoming them and their fans on board again this coming season.”
Newcastle tipped off their season away at Caledonia Gladiators on Sunday, but fans eagerly await their first home game this weekend in the local derby.
Durham Palatinates visit the Vertu Motors Arena on Saturday night and it is set to be an exciting encounter for the Eagles with Lumo now on-board for the 7:30pm tip-off.
Tickets for the game are available from the box office.
