Newcastle Eagles will tip-off their 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) campaign next month in its 30th anniversary season.

The league has unveiled its schedule, which sees the Eagles begin competitive games against Bristol Flyers on Friday 25 September at the Vertu Arena.

It is set to be the start of an exciting new chapter for the SLB as Liverpool Basketball officially joins the competition taking the total number of teams expanded to 10.

This additional means fans can expect new rivalries and an even more competitive season across the Championship, Cup and Play-Off competitions.

The 2026/27 Championship will see all 10 teams face each other four times – twice at home and twice away – across a 27-week regular season, with each club playing 36 league games.

Alongside the Championship, the SLB Cup returns in a refreshed knockout format. The top six teams from last season’s Championship receive automatic byes to the Quarter-Finals, while the remaining four teams will contest single-leg Play-In fixtures on Friday 8 January.

Newcastle’s play-in tie will be at home against Caledonia with Surrey taking on Liverpool. The winners head to a single-legged Quarter-Final on Sunday 10 January, which would see London Lions host the Eagles or Gladiators and either the 89ers or Liverpool Cheshire Phoenix.

The Semi-Finals will be played over two legs on Friday 15 January and Sunday 17 January following an open draw, before the Cup Final returns to the AO Arena in Manchester on Sunday 21 March 2027.

The Play-Offs will feature the top six Championship teams. The top two seeds from the Championship campaign will advance directly to the Semi-Finals, while teams seeded third to sixth will contest two-legged Quarter-Finals before the competition concludes with the Play-Off Final at The O2 in London on Sunday 16 May 2027.

The release of the 2026/27 schedule gives Eagles fans their first opportunity to plan for another blockbuster season for head coach Marc Steutel’s new-look Eagles side.
