Newcastle Eagles are delighted to announce the extension of support from Lumo, who become the women’s team’s main sponsor for the 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) season.

The all-electric rail operator has moved from the back of the women’s jerseys and shooting shirts to the front of the team’s new hummel kit as the Eagles embark on a landmark year.

Since Lumo took on its first women’s team sponsorship with the Eagles, the programme has enjoyed two of the most successful seasons in its history, including a record third-place finish and historic Play-Off Final run in 2025, followed by a fifth-place finish last season.

As the club celebrates its 30th anniversary, the season also marks eight years since the women’s programme adopted the iconic Newcastle Eagles brand in 2018.

In addition to appearing on the club’s home and away strips, Lumo will also feature on a special edition gold third kit that will be worn by the Eagles’ men’s and women’s teams throughout the club’s anniversary campaign.

Head of Marketing at Lumo, Khalid Amin, said: “Our regional sports teams are at the very heart of the community, just like us. We’re proud to be partnering with the Newcastle Eagles again this year.

“It’s important to us to build and maintain long-term partnerships with organisations that share our values. We wish the team every success for the rest of the season.”

Lumo remains a key partner for the Eagles, supporting the club both as a sponsor and as part of its team travel plans, with players and staff regularly using the operator’s services for journeys to fixtures in London and connections across the South.

Newcastle Eagles Managing Director, Paul Blake, added: “Lumo’s support of the club and our women’s franchise in particular has been a huge boost.

“Having such a high-profile national partner that shares our values has helped strengthen the programme both on and off the court.

“We’re delighted to see them increase that commitment by moving to the front of the jersey for what promises to be a memorable season.

“As we celebrate 30 years of Eagles basketball and look ahead to another exciting year for our women’s team, we look forward to continuing to build our partnership with Lumo.”

For Lumo, whose all-electric services connect the North East with destinations including London and Edinburgh, alongside its recently launched West Coast services via Carlisle, the partnership represents an ongoing commitment to supporting organisations that play an important role within their communities.

The new hummel kits will be available to purchase from the Vertu Arena club shop at the women’s first home game of the season this Sunday, October 11. Tickets for the 5pm tip-off are available now from the box office.
