Newcastle Eagles have made a men’s roster change on the eve of their opening 2025/26 Super League Basketball season tip-off with the signing of 6’5 USA guard Maceo Jack.
This time suiting-up up in black and white, Jack will be familiar to British basketball fans after two very successful campaigns with Cheshire Phoenix from 2022 to 2024.
“I’m very excited about joining the club”, said Jack, delighted to be back in the UK.
“After playing against the club for two years with Cheshire and learning about the storied history, I’m looking forward to contributing to more winning and playing in front of the passionate fans at the Vertu Arena!”
The explosive shooting guard averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and shot the 3-ball at 40.9% in his second season with Cheshire.
“I am looking forward to playing in the SLB this year”, the American added.
“The league looks very strong and I am excited to compete against the talent across the UK, as well as Europe in the ENBL.”
Jack spent five years in college in the states before signing as a professional with Cheshire and then moving to France’s Pro-B with Entente Orleans last season.
The guard’s four years at George Washington University were followed by his senior graduation year with the University of Buffalo, both NCAA Division 1 schools.
Eagles men’s head coach Marc Steutel adds Jack to his armoury just in time for their first competitive game over the border at Caledonia Gladiators tomorrow, Sunday 21 September.

“Maceo is a proven impact player in this league and is a much-welcomed reinforcement for us”, said Steutel.
“His many strengths, attributes and experiences will be invaluable for the challenges of the domestic and European seasons.
“I’m looking forward to having him in an Eagles jersey at the Vertu Arena for the season ahead.”
In a related move, the Eagles announce they have parted company with Caleb Huffman this week.
“I want to thank Caleb for his contribution and professionalism throughout our pre-season and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for the future”, coach Steutel added.
Jack has landed on Tyneside and has been integrated into Steutel’s ranks ready for their season opener away tomorrow. Fans not travelling to the game will be able to watch the action unfold live on DAZN.
The new signing tees-up a mouth-watering home debut when he will run-out against his former club, Cheshire Phoenix, next Friday, 26 September.
Tickets for the Eagles’ first home game of the season are selling fast and are available from the box office.
