WBBL TEAM OF THE WEEK – WEEK 7

Teresa Manigrasso (Team Northumbria)
The Team Northumbria guard joins her colleague Fiona O’Dwyer on three WBBL Team of the Week appearances this season after playing two great games over the weekend to help her side record a nice win-double at Suns and Topcats. It was her display on Saturday night in Sevenoaks which gets her the nod after Manigrasso poured in 28 points as well as claiming six boards and a handy four steals.

Helen Naylor (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
The versatile Naylor is now outright second in the race to have the most appearances in our fabulous five after taking a place for the fourth time during the maiden campaign – only Chantelle Pressley of Wildcats has more appearances to her name. Naylor scored 23 points against Manchester in the ‘Battle of the Roses’ and converted 8 of 15 inside, as well as making her only three-point attempt. She also did sterling work on the glass to secure seven rebounds.

Kate Butters (Cardiff Met Archers)
It’s a debut appearance for Butters after she produced the best WBBL display of the entire weekend with a scintillating contribution for her team in the triumph against Leeds Beckett University. She had a stellar all-action line after not only racking up a fine double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, but also handing out five assists and most impressive of all, snatching a mesmerising eight steals.

Judit Fritz (Cardiff Met Archers)
Fritz joins her team-mate in our starting five in what is her second appearance in three weeks. The forward also enjoyed herself against Leeds with 19 points from an eye-catching 7 of 11 in the paint, as well as adding six rebounds. The highlight of the night for the former Hungary national team player was a wonderful seven assists, as she showcased her impressive passing vision.

Skye Rees (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
It’s another debutante in the shape of Rees, who produced her best game in a Hatters vest at the weekend as she caught fire against the Mystics. She finished with an outstanding 26 points after shooting a terrific 69.2% under the basket and dropping her only triple attempt for good measure. The centre also added eight rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and a steal, to complete a nice day’s work.
