Flournoy retains Molten BBL Coach of the Month award

It has been a record-breaking period of late for Esh Group Eagles Newcastle and the input of Fab Flournoy has been recognised after he was named Molten BBL Coach of the Month for November.

He retains the award he won last month after guiding his team to a 13-0 flawless record in the BBL Championship – having safely moved into the Semi-Finals of the BBL Cup at the end of October.

The Eagles won five games during November, opening up with an 87-78 success at Sport Central against a dangerous Sheffield Sharks team.

That result rubber-stamped the club’s best ever start to a season in the BBL Championship as they racked up a ninth straight win, to beat their eight game opening streak in 2007.

Flournoy’s side then showed their offensive power with a convincing 119-81 victory at Manchester Giants, before facing Worcester Wolves on home soil.

The Wolves have been something of a bogey team for the Eagles in recent seasons, but they shrugged off recent tradition to claim a 95-88 triumph.

After collecting another big win against Giants, the perfect record was retained last weekend with a hard-fought 80-72 success against Glasgow Rocks at the Emirates Arena.

Flournoy was also on hand last week to accept the Team of the Year Award at the prestigious BBC North-East Sports Awards.
