BBL Championship
Sheffield Sharks 75 (21, 37, 54) (Jones 20, Smith 19, Fletcher 13)
Newcastle Eagles 95 (25, 48, 70) (Lewis 16, Payne 13, Tuck 12)

Newcastle Eagles extended their winning streak to eight games with a 95-75 victory on the road at title rivals Sheffield Sharks on Friday, stretching their lead at the top of the BBL Championship.

Reigning champions Eagles seized the initiative from the first tip and led from start to finish, to secure their second success against Sharks this season.

Atiba Lyons’s side, who finished as runners-up to Eagles in the league last season, were kept in the game by eight early points from Colin Sing, off the bench.

But the visitors lead was up to double figures by half-time as their patented ball movement kicked in and they began to get points from all over the floor.

All of Eagles’ starters scored in double figures, and Charles Smith scored 19 from the bench, as the lead continued to grow.

Sharks slip to a 3-3 record, despite Nick Lewis’s team-high 16 points from the bench, as Eagles march on.

Andre Jones was the high man with 20 points but four players also added 13 points, including Rahmon Fletcher, who contributed eight assist too.
