Eagles sell out Friday versus Riders

These are certainly exciting and encouraging times for British Basketball as Esh Group Eagles Newcastle have announced that tomorrow’s top of The BBL table clash against fierce rivals Leicester Riders is a complete sell-out at Northumbria University Sport Central.
The top two professional Clubs in Britain clash in what is the first of three definite match-ups in The BBL Championship following a pulsating and high-profile BBL Cup Final less than two weeks ago at a packed Barclaycard Arena Birmingham where The Eagles prevailed to notch the first silverware of the 2015-16 season.
That game has certainly whetted the public’s imagination and with both teams on course for another possible clash in The BBL Trophy Final provided that they both come through their tough semi-finals it’s no surprise that interest in tomorrow’s night match-up has peaked to such an extent.
Eagles Managing Director Paul Blake enthused over the forthcoming event.
“It’s great not just for Newcastle Eagles to sell-out a home Championship game but it’s great profile for the sport in this country. Ticket requests are still coming in and we could quite easily have sold another 1,000 seats for this game to date. Our game against Riders in The Cup Final was a tremendous day and I’m sure tomorrow night will be equally as exciting.”
“Whatever the result we’re going to be able to enjoy the night and look back with real pride once the dust settles on what a magnificent achievement we’ve managed to pull off and I thank the public for their great support.”
For Leicester it will be the first of two sell-out games in two days as they open their superb new purpose built Arena in Leicester city centre with an opening night capacity crowd against Surrey Scorchers. Another example of the sport showing great ambitions for the future.
But back to tomorrow and whilst the result of the game may not determine the outcome of The BBL Championship nor forge the destiny fully of each team’s season there’s no doubt that the winners will take a huge step forward and gain a significant psychological advantage.
It promises to be a really exciting and memorable occasion.
Tickets are still available for all February home games including Eagles tie against Plymouth Raiders on Friday 5th February online at  www.newcastle-eagles.com or by calling Eagles ticket office on 0191 245 3880. Eagles will play the Riders one more time at home this season, on Friday March 18th and the club are advising to purchase in advance for what could be a title deciding game.
