Esh Group Eagles Newcastle are delighted to announce the North-East Invitational Basketball Tournament to be held at Sport Central, Newcastle on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th September 2014.
The 4-team set-up sees local rivals and fellow BBL side Durham Wildcats, Team USA Select and BBL newcomers Leeds Force coming together to compete in a pre-season tournament with Esh Group Eagles Newcastle as Fab Flournoy’s men prepare for the 2014/15 season.
Durham Wildcats under new Head Coach Lee Davie had their most successful season so far in The BBL last term narrowly making the End of Season Play-Offs for the first time. With star guard Ralph Bucci back in the ranks and also assisting Davie, the Wildcats will be looking to go even better this campaign.
Team USA Select are annual visitors to Newcastle and under the astute stewardship of Sean Kilmartin always bring an interesting and talented mix of USA-based players looking to showcase their talents and earn professional jobs in Europe for the forthcoming season.
Leeds Force join the BBL this term and Coach Matt Newby will be bringing a side brimming with young British talent, including Captain Armand Anebo and recent University of Nevada graduate Patrick Nyeko.
The format of the games sees Durham face Leeds Force at 6pm and Eagles versus Team USA at 8pm on Monday 8th September and then on the Tuesday, Durham v Team USA at 6pm followed by Eagles V Leeds at 8pm.
