Head Coach Matt Newby has rewarded another member of last season’s play-off final reaching squad with a contract for the 2024/25 Women’s Super League Basketball season with the retention of guard Alex Campbell.

Despite only turning 20 last month the 5’ 7” Campbell returns for what will be her third season on the Eagles bench after coming through the junior and local University ranks. Campbell actually playing in 11 games last season.

Newby feels his latest signing is a player that is improving and is a great prospect for the future as he outlined.

“Alex’s development throughout the 2023/24 season was excellent,” said Newby.

“She continues to learn from the environment at a high rate whether that’s by virtue of the practice design or the seniors’ players who have all contributed to her growth she makes the very best of the situation every day.

“She has become increasingly strong defensively on the ball and offensively she continues to evolve her drive game with a strong repertoire of finishing.

“I look forward to seeing her challenge the other members of our back court this season.”

Campbell joined her teammates in being announced at The Launch last weekend as they build-up to their pre-season tip-off against Sheffield Hatters tomorrow.

“I’m super excited to be back for another year with the Eagles’ program. I can’t wait to develop and improve my game more surrounded by the great talent that we have. I’m also excited to experience our unforgettable fan base once again.”

Tickets for tomorrow afternoon’s double-header as our Eagles tip-off at 2:30pm followed by the men vs Surrey 89ers at 5:30pm are available from the box office.
