BBL Team of the Week – Week 30

Fittingly, our last line-up of the campaign features some of the players vying for the most appearances this season.

Travis Holmes (Surrey Heat)

In a quite staggering run of outrageously impressive form, the guard takes a stunning fifth place in our line-up within the space of just seven weeks. He provided a typically influential display to help the Heat overcome a double digit deficit during the quarter-final second leg against Worcester Wolves. He came up with 16 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds, to catapult his side into the semi-finals and a clash with defending play-off champions Newcastle Eagles.

Drew Sullivan (Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders)

The Riders’ star is also in great form and he led his team in a hard fought quarter-final series with London Lions to perpetuate his sides’ dream of landing a wonderful BBL treble. The veteran again underlined his all-round game and impact, by coming up with 23 points, including a couple of triples. He also accumulated seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. That was enough to book a date with Marjon Plymouth Raiders in the last four.

Colin O’Reilly (Marjon Plymouth Raiders)

It has been some 21 weeks since the Raiders’ forward last featured in our starting five, but O’Reilly chose a great time to produce one of his biggest performances of the year to book his fourth appearance. He did the business in the second leg against Glasgow Rocks to spark scenes of celebration at the Pavilions, harvesting 25 points off the back of some tremendous three-point shooting. The Irish international sunk five triples from just eight attempts and also claimed a sparkling double-double by pulling down 13 rebounds.

Kareem Maddox (Newcastle Eagles; pictured)

The Eagles forward ensured his team will step out at Sport Central once more this season, by getting his side off to a flying start in their play-off quarter-final, first-leg against One Health Sharks Sheffield. He finished the first meeting with a super double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds, also entertaining the fans with an array of thunderous dunks. He also did some great defensive work with three steals and three blocked shots to help set up a semi-final duel with Heat.

Andreas Schreiber (Marjon Plymouth Raiders)

It’s a debut BBL Team of the Week appearance for the Raiders’ big man after he conjured up the joint best performance of the quarter-finals. His fantastic double-double handed Raiders an impressive and valuable road win at Emirates Arena. He posted an MVP performance by scoring 24 points as well as doing the dirty work on the glass with 14 rebounds. He also managed to rustle up two steals and a blocked shot.
