Eagles Wheelchair Basketball programme, run in partnership with Percy Hedley Sports Foundation, took time out today to congratulate Eagles Wheelchair player and Invictus Games gold medallist Gareth Golightly (pictured left) on his achievements over the past weekend in London.
Introduced to wheelchair basketball through the Newcastle Eagles coach Adam Parry (pictured right) at the Help for Heroes’ run Recovery Centre at Catterick Garrison, Gaz has built a growing reputation in the sport over recent seasons.
“Adam runs wheelchair basketball sessions for the Centre and invited me to join in. Since then, Help for Heroes has roped me into all sorts,” said the 31-year-old father of two young daughters.
The club would like to thank Gareth for attending todays event and wish the Eagles Wheelchair programme success for the season, starting this Saturday at home at Percy Hedley School.
