The Eagles came out top of the pile in Day Two of the Invitational last night, running out 106 – 80 winnersover Team USA Select I. An enjoyable game was watched by over 600 pre-season followers at Sport Central. The Select team put up a spirited battle led by 7’3″ Shagari Alleyne, but the Eagles were too much to handle in a tournament that saw Eagles debuts for 16 year academy player Eddie Matthews and 6’11” Tyne Met College academy player Theo Turner.

In the 3/4th play-off Sheffield Sharks stretched out to an 87-73 win over Durham Wildcats after a long period of trading points and the 5th /6th place game saw TEam Northumbria rally from a 15 point deficit to take the win 65-59 over Team USA Select II.

The Eagles now look forward to their season opener against Glasgow Rocks on Friday 21st September at Sport Central.
