Newcastle Eagles Basketball Club and the Eagles Community Foundation have joined the newly launched Lucentum Basketball Hub, a pioneering networking project, which has been designed to unite basketball clubs, academies, Federations and sports-business stakeholders from across the globe.
This innovative hub will serve as a central point for collaborations, events, education and shared growth, offering a unique space for basketball organisations to connect, learn and succeed together on and off the court.
The Lucentum Basketball Hub’s objective is to establish a global basketball community where shared knowledge, best practices, and strategic partnerships result in collective and individual success.
Through the hub, members will have access to networking opportunities, professional webinars and workshops led by highly qualified lecturers, event collaborations, and strategic partnerships with companies that will be invited to present their products and their services to our community.
Benefiting of these tools and the expertise that the members are going to share by presenting their projects, the challenges they are facing and how they respond, Lucentum Basketball Hub aims to support the development of young talents (players and professionals), enhance coaching methods from youth to pro level, promote community engagement, smart marketing, and to facilitate innovation through sports science.
At the same time, the project will open pathways for players to transition from youth to professional levels, ensuring the sustainable growth of basketball as a global sport, and to coaches and professionals to pursue international opportunities through the connections between the hub’s members.
The club and Eagles Community Foundation, together with its Academy, is delighted to be a founding member of the Lucentum Basketball Hub with it’s starting line up of 26 members representing 25 countries and basketball cultures, including a number of the Eagles’ fellow European North Basketball League teams:

Based out of Lucentum Alicante, a professional basketball club based in Alicante, Spain, the hub is committed to expanding its global reach and continuing to attract new members from all the continents. As more clubs, Federations, academies, and basketball professionals join, the potential for collaboration and success will only grow, making this a game-changing initiative for the sport worldwide.
One of the strategic objectives is to ensure that by the end of 2025, there is a representative from every European country, with a strong presence from Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Australia.
Ionuț Georgescu, technical director of Lucentum Alicante and coordinator of the Lucentum Basketball Hub, said: “The term ‘team’ has to go beyond the lines of the basketball court and healthy competition on and off the court.
“That’s why Lucentum Basketball Hub is based on the fact that in the market there is a huge demand from organisations to connect, exchange experiences, get involved in projects and attract the business side close to basketball.
“It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about Federations, professional clubs or academies: the goals and needs are similar and revolve around one thing – knowledge. And as we all know, knowledge is power.
“We are certain that the experience of our members and the professionalism of the special guests will enable us to present and develop opportunities.
“We know that the smartest person in the room is the room itself, so we are looking forward to the working meetings where we will put the synergies into action.”
