BBL Team of the Week – Week 20

The season leader extends his lead at the top of the appearance chart and we have yet another debutante.

Rahmon Fletcher (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle)
It’s a third spot in our fabulous five for the playmaker who was in his usually buoyant form at both ends of the floor for the Eagles as they sailed into the last four of the BBL Trophy with a big win at the Emirates Arena. Fletcher finished with 14 points and seven assists and also made a big impression defensively to keep himself in the good books of player-coach Fab Flournoy, after grabbing a super six steals and three boards.

Andre Jones (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle)
Completing an all-Eagles’ backcourt this week is Jones, who secures back-to-back appearances in our line-up after also excelling against the Rocks on the road. He helped the Eagles take down their old foes with a blistering shooting display which returned a brilliant nine of eleven effort. He also came up with four rebounds, an assist and a steal to keep the Eagles rolling in the right direction towards a potential second piece of silverware this season.

Taylor King (Cheshire Phoenix)
The Phoenix forward was in red-hot form against Worcester Wolves at Northgate Arena as the home side boosted their chances of overhauling Wolves come the end of the campaign. King finished with a classy double-double after finishing the contest with 22 points and 10 rebounds to put his opponents to the sword. He also clutched two steals and wowed the Phoenix fans with three big rejections on a sterling night of work.

Lovell Cook (London Lions)
The Lions’ frontcourt star booked his maiden slot in our starting five after an excellent contribution against Sheffield Sharks in a BBL Championship overtime thriller which sets the scene for Friday’s crunch BBL Trophy Quarter Final between the clubs. Cooks showed he has range after lighting it up from downtown on his way to a massive 34 points. He dropped a stunning six triples and completed a double-double by corralling ten boards.

Demond Watt (Cheshire Phoenix)
There is absolutely no stopping the Phoenix powerhouse – either on the court, or in the race to finish with the most BBL Team of the Week appearances. He collected his eighth starting five berth after an extraordinary shooting night against Wolves when he missed just one shot all night. He finished with 25 points in a near flawless outing, after sinking six of seven at the basket and making all thirteen of his free-throws. He just missed out on a double-double by one rebound and also harvested two steals and two blocks.

Off the bench – Devin Grimes (Manchester Giants), Rashad Hassan (Leicester Riders), Branimir Mikulic (Leeds Force), Josh Wilcher (Plymouth University Raiders), Darius Defoe (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle), Kramer Knutson (Surrey United), Sterling Davis (Glasgow Rocks).
