Esh Group Eagles Newcastle avenged their only defeat of the season by beating London Lions 81-88 at the Copper Box Arena, on Sunday.
Fab Flournoy’s men improve to 9-1 after a double-winning weekend and square the head-to-head series with the Lions at 1-1.
Deondre Parks produced an impressive second quarter burst to help the Eagles pull away and finished with a game-high of 28 points in the win.
After trailing by one at the end of the first, the Lions moved ahead to take a 29-27 lead early in the second. However, the Eagles responded with a pivotal 23-6 spell as they opened up a 15-point advantage to take into the second half.
Parks was influential during the run and got a running floater to go at the buzzer to go to 17 points at the half.
London outscored their opponents in the third and used a 5-0 start to the fourth to close to within six points. The Eagles kept their composure, though, and were able to see out the game for an important victory.
Alex Owumi also had 28 points, but the Lions fell short despite making a late charge.
London Lions had beaten Leicester Riders in the BBL Cup on Saturday and will meet the Eagles again in the Semi-Finals of the competition.
