BBL Championship thanks to an impressive 67-86 victory over the One Health Sharks Sheffield at the EIS, Sheffield on Friday night.

The Eagles lead the game from tip-to-buzzer and after an early trading of baskets, the Eagles made the first break in the game as they opened up an early 7-20 lead off the back of a 11-1 tear. The Eagles maintained their lead as the quarter drew to a close with the visitors enjoying a 13-30 advantage at the end of the first period.

In the second quarter the Eagles continued to extend their lead as a 15-4 run towards the end of the second quarter to take the score out to 21-47, but the Sharks bagged the last six points of the first half to trail by 20 points at 27-47 as the sides headed into the locker rooms at the half.


In the second half the Sharks started the stronger as a 10-2 burst from the home side closed the gap to 12 points at 45-57 with a couple of minutes remaining in the third quarter. With both teams trading baskets for the final moments of the period, a Nate Reinking three-pointer on the buzzer saw them continue to trail by 12 points at 50-62 heading into the final stanza.

In the final period, a further Reinking basket saw the home side get to within 13 points at 56-69 with 5:47 remaining in the game. That was as close as the Sharks got in the game as the Eagles broke the game open for the final time with a 15-3 burst to take the score out to their biggest lead of the game at 59-84 with 2 minutes left in the contest. The home side tried valiantly to get themselves back into the game but the Eagles held on for the comfortable victory.
