BBL Team of the Week – Week 28

Yet another debutante this week and one of the best displays of the entire season from a BBL veteran.

Tyler Bernardini (Leicester Riders)

It’s a third appearance in our starting five during the last five weeks for the Riders’ guard, whose rich vein of form continued in the win against Cheshire Phoenix as his team maintained their hopes of sneaking past Eagles for the BBL Championship title. Bernardini showcased his renowned shooting prowess from downtown after making five scores from distance and a nicely efficient six of nine inside the three-point line, as he corralled 29 points. He also recorded five boards, four assists and two steals.

Alex Owumi (Worcester Wolves)

The swingman produced one of his best efforts of the campaign to make our line-up after registering a fine double-double as Wolves completed a 3-0 series sweep against Esh Group Eagles Newcastle at the University of Worcester Arena. The Eagles’ veteran forward was the hero for his team as he carried the injury struck league leaders to a precious victory at Plymouth University Raiders with the best performance of the entire week and also one of the best of the 2014-15 BBL campaign. That helped him to secure his debut BBL Team of the Week berth and he also contributed three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Another Riders player who is in a hot streak of form, Hassan finds himself back in our line-up for a sixth time this season after producing the goods against London Lions. After getting off to a great start, the forward didn’t slow down as he racked up a monumental double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds against the visitors. It was also a typically clinical display in the paint as he achieved his points tally via a terrific 63% shooting display.
