Esh Group Eagles Newcastle made it 12 wins in a row in the BBL Championship after taking care of London Lions in the second half of the game to take a 99-82 victory on the road at the Copper Box Arena.

The start of the game was rather promising for Lions, who held the lead on multiple occasions during the first two quarters and finished the half trailing only by a single point heading into the halftime break down 43-42.

However, Eagles stepped up their game in the second half, breaking away to a double-digit advantage at 58-48 midway through the third period. Although Newcastle saw their lead cut to two points with a 10-0 run by Lions, they did restore a more convincing gap, finishing the quarter up 69-60.

Charles Smith, who had a great game off the bench, started the final frame with a basket to bring the gap to double digits once again, as Eagles marched on to take yet another win.

Smith finished with a game-high 27 points in just 23 minutes of action, while Andre Jones added 18 points and nine boards for the Newcastle club. Meanwhile, Rod Brown was the leading scorer for Lions with 22 points and five assists.
