Ok, so the first piece of player news for the 2017/18 season is now out there and it’s departure as Orlan flies The Eagles Nest and rises in the west as a Phoenix.

From Cheshire’s Facebook site as after all it is their news.

“Cheshire Phoenix are pleased to be able to confirm the signing of British star Orlan Jackman.

The 6’7’’ forward joins the Phoenix from BBL Cup winners Newcastle Eagles where he averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds during the 2016-17 season and having previously played for Worcester Wolves and London Lions.

London born Jackman, who was part of the Molten BBL All-British Team of the Year last season said, “I am really happy to be a part of the new look Phoenix team and I look forward to a lot of great things next season at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village”.

Head Coach Ben Thomas added,

“We are very happy to have Orlan onboard with us for the upcoming season. He is one of the best British players in this league. His versatility on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor will be a massive asset to us.

The club have worked really hard over the past couple of weeks to be able to bring Orlan to Cheshire, I know he is really focused and understands that this club is going to take a giant leap forward this season”.

Orlan will be sponsored by Isaac Sweeney, son of the co-founder of Plus Point.

Orlan joins Raheem May-Thompson, CJ Gettys and Andrew Bachman to the roster. Phoenix are still waiting on visas to announce further signings.”

All at Esh Group Eagles Newcastle thanks OJ for his efforts last season and wishes him well for the future.
