Esh Group Eagles Newcastle kept up the pressure on league leaders, Leicester Riders, with an important 92-85 victory at home to Glasgow Rocks.

Fab Flournoy’s side secure the season head-to-head and extend their winning run over the Rocks to an incredible 19 games.

Rahmon Fletcher netted a game-high 27 points including 15 in the fourth with back-court partner Deondre Parks adding a further 25 points.

The Eagles were quick to settle and Parks had 12 points in the opening period to help the hosts establish a double-digit lead. However, Glasgow got going in the second with February’s Player of the Month, Kieron Achara, nearing a double-double at the break as the lead was cut to four.

The visitors made further inroads when play resumed and took the lead on a triple from Gareth Murray, but the game would be level heading into a crucial final 10 minutes.

The league MVP stepped up as Fletcher had a run of 10 straight points before netting a dagger triple to make it 82-74 approaching the final two minutes with Newcastle sealing the win.

Achara finished with an impressive 28 points and 14 boards, but the Rocks fall to a 16-6 record in a blow to their title hopes.
