Manchester Giants took on the Eagles at Oldham Sixth Form’s Campus. The home started strong, scoring going on a 9- 0 scoring run while the eagles found their feet. The eagles were plagued with turnovers as the bigger Manchester Giants showed their defensive prowess . First quarter ended 23-8
The second quarter u14s failed to find the net as their field goal percentage dropped significantly as the home dominated the mid range with their pull up jumpers. Giants did not take their foot off the gas pedal as they continued to dominate the boards on either end, while the Eagles only scored 8 points .The first half ended 46-26
3rd quarter saw much of the same both team didn’t shoot the ball particularly well but the visitoing teams turnovers in transition saw the home team capitalize on this area scoring easy layups and punishing the Eagles for these mistakes. This in addition the missed scoring opportunities in transition saw the Eagles give up some needed scores
In the 4th quarter it was very much of the same with the home team being outscored by the visitors with few defensive stops. The game ended with final score of 78-41.
Eagles u14s coach Calvin George said “Despite what the score line says, there is progress here, last time we played this team tghey beat us by 70 points and this time at one point we had cut their lead to single digits. Now to move on to our last game of this season at Home”
