After last weeks close loss away Manchester Giants the Eagles were at home against a tough opponent, Leeds.
After a dramatic start to the game, the home side took an early 7-2 lead as they looked to punish Leeds for easy mistakes. It didn’t take Leeds long to find their own rhythm as both sides battled it out in a close quarter that the Eagles edged 14-13.
After a steady first quarter, the away side took a 18-14 lead straight away however that lead didn’t last long as the home side looked to answer right back with a 28-24 lead after 6 minutes into the second. The Eagles were only up by one point before a clutch 3 to finish the half extended their lead 36-32.
The home side couldn’t have asked for a worse start to begin the 2nd half as a timeout was taken 2 minutes in as Leeds came out punishing the Eagles for their poor mistakes. The third however managed to regroup and win the third, extending their lead even further, 50-44.
The fourth was once again where all the drama took place as Leeds showed no sign of slowing down despite the crowds noise and the home sides eagerness to get defensive stops. It was a game of runs until the second half of the quarter where things got tighter and tighter throughout as Leeds were only down by 3 points. The Eagles got their defensive stops and made their free throws, now the win was complete. The Eagles won 76-69.
The Eagles are back on the road for the next two weeks, as they play Leicester next week.
