Newcastle Eagles head coach Chloe Gaynor is bringing guard/forward Natalie Cernohorska into her 2025/26 Super League Basketball roster.
Whilst Cernohorska will be new face and name for the top-level of women’s basketball, it is not a new face or name to Gaynor and Newcastle.
The 5’9” Czech played under the Eagles now player-coach in the 2022/23 season, Cernohorska’s first at Northumbria University, when the Gaynor was doubling up playing WBBL with coaching Women’s BUCS.

“Joining the Newcastle Eagles is a huge step for me and I’m beyond excited to play in front of such amazing fans at the Vertu Arena”, said Cernohorska.
“Newcastle has felt like home since I came here for University, and having already worked with Coach Chloe, I’m excited for my first ever season playing in the SLB.
“Before moving to the UK, I’ve played basketball in the Czech Republic where I developed a fast, physical style of play that I hope will add something extra to the roster.”
Cernohorska played for Czech Under-18 3×3 national team in the European Champions qualifiers in Bari back in 2018 and is a former Czech Republic Under-16 international, as well as turning out for BK Pliska Studanka Pardubice II in 2018/19.
“After working with Nat initially a few seasons ago through BUCS, it’s been nice to stay in contact and now be able to give her the opportunity to progress her game to the SLB level”, added Gaynor.
“Nat encapsulates what it means to be an Eagle. She is hardworking, determined and a great teammate.
“Fans can expect to see Nat putting her body on the line, doing the little things that the team needs, and I’m pleased to be working with her again.”
The new-look Eagles women’s team start pre-season training next week ahead of their first unveiling in front of fans on Friday 5 September at The Launch. Tickets are still available on the box office.
