Esh Group Eagles Newcastle have been dealt a blow to remaining season plans with the news that injured forward Terry Martin will miss the rest of the season.

The forward injured tendons in his ankle area at Cheshire on 21st January a mere 1:14 in to the game. Since then Martin has had the injury assessed and analysed and the diagnosis is that he needs surgery to help him recover.

That surgery will not take place in time for him to make a significant return before the end of the season and Martin has resigned himself to not been able to play again in this campaign.

He had the following message for his team-mates and Eagles supporters.

“I would like to thank the fans and the team for their support. Unfortunately, due to the seriousness of my injury and preparing for an operation I will be unable to play in any of the remaining regular season games.”

“It is frustrating, but every athlete competing at a high level has had to deal with injuries at one point or another. I am looking forward to starting my rehabilitation shortly after surgery and planning to return to the game as soon as possible.”

The Club wishes Terry well for the future in the hope he makes the recovery that he strives for.

With Darius Defoe, Kai Williams and Drew Lasker all in contention for a place in the England Commonwealth Games squad, The Eagles Management is looking at its options for the remainder of the season taking in to account the disappointing news of Martin’s season ending injury.
