This July we have lots going on to keep you active at our Eagles Community Arena.

In conjunction with Newcastle College, the Lawn Tennis Association and North East Dance, our Eagles Community Foundation are pleased to announce the following taster courses, which are all available free of charge across July 2019.

Sessions are open to anyone aged 19 and above, with some targeting the over 55 population as part of our Active Ageing programme.

It is quick and easy to sign up at your first session with certificates presented to participants on completion of the courses.

Bat and Ball

This block of 3 weeks bat and ball sessions is for adults aged 55+ who want to keep fit, stay active and be social. Using soft sponge balls and smaller courts, these sessions have been designed to be low impact and there are no prior tennis skills needed!

Table Sports Tuesday for over 55s

Join this table based sports activity session. Featuring table basketball, table cricket and table tennis. Gentle work out improving your hand eye co-ordination ability.

Times: 10.30am – 12pm

Zumba

Join this exciting dance style class combining Latin and international music with dance moves, alternating from fast to slow rhythms. A great cardio and flexibility workout.

Let’s all Boogie

Come and join us for 60 minutes of Baby Boogie to help with their developmental needs. All ran by a qualified instructor from North East Dance. For adults with children aged 18 months to 3 years old.

Mixed Dance (over 55)

Come and join us for an afternoon of dance in the Eagles Community Arena. Covering styles including line dance, rock ‘n’ roll, ball room and commercial dance, adapting each week to suit the needs of the participants.

Boccia for over 55s

Boccia is a seated sport similar to French boules or crown green bowls. A gentle introduction to sport with benefits including improved flexibility, hand eye to co-ordination and increased confidence.

Times: 1pm – 2pm

Clubbercise

Come clubbing through the day. We darken the room, fill it with disco lights and LED glow sticks and get the club hits past and present banging. A fusion of dance, toning and combat moves for all fitness levels.

Walking Basketball for over 55s

Fortnightly taster sessions for adults aged 55 and above who want to increase their fitness whilst learning a new sport.

Times: 12pm – 1pm

Boxercise and Circuits

Introducing the principles of the training boxers use to keep fit. Includes skipping, pads work, shadow boxing, shuttle runs, sit ups and more.

Times: 10am – 11am
