Newcastle Eagles 110 (18, 44, 74) (Chapman 26, Jackson 21, Smith 19)
Guildford Heat 83 (25, 47, 58) (Joseph 27, McKnight 16, Ogedengbe 15)
Newcastle Eagles kept up the pressure at the top of the BBL Championship, making for an exciting run in to the end of season play offs, as they are now tied with league leaders, Sheffield Sharks, on 38 points. The Eagles comfortably overcame Chad McKnight’s Guildford Heat team tonight, the end scoreline reading 110-83, and were led by the explosive Joe Chapman, who posted 26 points, whilst point guard Reggie Jackson had 21 points, and Charles Smith scored 19. The Heat were led from the front by former GB International Julius Joseph, who led all scorers in the game with 27 points, McKnight had 16 points and Tayo Ogedengbe (15 points) was also in the mix.
After a relatively tight first period, in which the Heat looked as if they had control of the game, they were 25-18 after ten minutes. The Eagles then came soaring back, much inspired by Chapman, but were still trailing 44-47 at the half. It was only down to a massive penultimate stanza that the Eagles secured a comfortable victory, as they pulled away to lead 74-58 going into the final ten minutes.
