Newcastle Eagles 100 (29,51,74) (Bridge 18, McCotter 15, Toney 15)
PAWS London Capital 68 (14,31,54) (Gariba 26, Sturgeons 18, Chiwuzie 14)
Friday the 13th was a night to forget for PAWS London Capital as they arrived in the north east two hours late and were then hammered 100-68 by the league leading Newcastle Eagles.
The Eagles showed no sympathy to the behind schedule Capital to move back to the top of the league and condemn London to defeat number 20 in a season to forget.
After sharing the first eight points of the match the Eagles raced away with a 17-4 burst to move 21-8 ahead on their way to a 29-14 first quarter lead.
There was no respite for the Capital after the break with Newcastle moving a further five points in front by half time (51-31) and Eagles coach Fab Flournoy having the luxury of giving his bench plenty of court time.
The third quarter saw Eagles and Capital level during the period to end it 74-54 before the home side turned it on again in the final stanza. A 26-14 quarter gave the end scoreline a fair reflection in a one sided encounter.
Eagles Andrew Bridge scored 18 to lead his team while Ibrahim Gariba’s 26 was the match’s top personal score.
