Newcastle Eagles pulled within two points of the top of the BBL Championship after a comfortable road win at Surrey United.
The Eagles were led by 25 points from Scott Martin, while Paul Gause weighed in with 24. Scott also pulled down 12 rebounds. For United, who remain winless after seven Championship matches, Ceslovas Kucinskas top scored with 28 to lead all scorers.
Newcastle were quickly into their stride and led 33-21 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a three on the buzzer by Malik Cooke. And the visitors wasted no time in extending their advantage over 20 points in the second period. By half time Fab Flournoy’s team led 60-33.
Eagles almost made it into three figures after half time before settling for a 98-51 lead with ten minutes to play. United did pinch the final quarter to provide some consolation for the home supporters.
