Newcastle Eagles owner Paul Blake has praised the contribution of Rahmon Fletcher as the guard parts company with the club for the second time.

Manchester Giants have announced signing Fletcher for the 2022-23 season after talks concluded he would not be part of Marc Steutel’s summer rebuild.

“We want to thank Rahmon for his service and support over seven seasons with the club,” said Blake.

“He has made a huge contribution to the club, the league and the community since we brought him to the BBL for the first time in 2014.”

Fletcher’s departure opens the door for a complete backcourt overhaul with Newcastle headed in a new direction for the forthcoming season.

New head coach Steutel is building a roster designed to put the Eagles back on the front foot and Blake added: “Our fans should be very excited.

“This summer we are rebooting, rebuilding and have set about putting this basketball club back where it belongs.”
