Eagles U18s travelled to East Durham college to play the Lions in a U18s 1st round National cup clash. This North east match up started with the home team scoring a couple of quick fast break points and getting on the board early but the Eagles quickly came back on the shoulders of Spoors (11) scoring 6 points with 3 layups in transition. With Linsley and Evbuomwan coming of the bench and a few voracious dunks in transition from both athletes, the first period ended 18-34 .
The second quarter Eagles put on a shooting clinic shooting 10/12 in the first 4 minutes with Linsley and Evbuomwan scoring several long range baskets as the home team struggled with guarding the perimeter, going into halftime with a score of 28-75.
East Durham came out of the locker room after half time changing their defensive tactic to 2-3 zone which the Eagles picked apart and forced them to go back to a man to man .
In the 4th quarter it was very much of the same with the Eagles putting on a shooting display scoring a massive 46 points to end the game at 45-155. Top scorers on the day were T. Evbuomwan C.Linsley and J. Leivin .
Next Saturday will see Newcastle eagles away to Sheffield Junior Sharks for what is expected to be a tough match up.
