Recap
Team Norhumbria bounced back in the WBBL with a Chantelle Handy-led victory over Oaklands Wolves.
After a disappointing loss to Leicester Riders on Saturday, TN were back at Sport Central to take on the Wolves – a team who had just picked up their first ever WBBL win the day before.
TN looked like a changed team as they dominated each quarter, coming away with an admirable 85-55 win.
“We definitely needed to step it up from our loss on Saturday,” said TN’s top scorer Handy.
“We knew what we had to do today, we had to be focused and we were. I think we got a lot of things done today that we aimed for.
“Oaklands came to the game on a high and we were obviously on a bit of a low after the Leicester result – they played well but we just came out and handled business.”
Handy amassed 33 points over the course of the game, sinking five of her seven attempted three-point shots – giving her a fantastic 71% three-point conversion rate.
“Three-pointers are a part of my game but it’s just whatever the team need me to do, I try to do it,” added Handy.
“I was in the post, I was outside, – whatever I’m needed to do, that’s what I’m here for.
“We need to push on now as a team and just keep developing. We need to focus on making the right reads as a team and we have a lot of work to do.
“But, like I said, it’s a long season and we’ve got a lot of time to develop and we’ll only get better.”
TN are in action again in the WBBL Championship on November 4 as they host Nottingham Wildcats at Sport Central.
