Reading Rockets 60 (8,22,42) (Sayers 20, Saunders 18, Lohfink 8)
Newcastle Eagles 102 (24,50,77) (Smith 27, Chapman 20, Stewart 15)

BBL Trophy holders had little trouble in setting up a quarter-final at Worthing Thunder on Sunday with a 60- 102 win on the road at National League club Reading Rockets.

Eagles player-coach Fab Flournoy resisted the temptation to keep any of his players in the north-east and was rewarded by an excellent performance from tip to buzzer.

Tight defence in the first quarter helped Eagles build a 2-13 lead on a Charles Smith (pictured) three. A 6-11 run to end the period gave Newcastle a comfortable 8- 24 advantage.

Rockets had more success offensively in the second quarter but Eagles still extended their lead to 22-50 by half time. Any remaining hopes of an upset were extinguished as Newcastle stretched out to 42-77 heading into the final quarter.

Smith, who had an excellent shooting night, led all scorers with 27 points.
