Worcester Wolves 87 (15,46,67) (Paez 31, Uzkuraitis 16, Funn 12)
Newcastle Eagles 86 (29,49,67) (Moore 25, Toney 18, Bridge 15)

Worcester Wolves shook off a dismal start to their match with Newcastle Eagles to record a thrilling 87- 86 home win.

The Wolves, who have now moved into a play-off position, trailed by as many as 16 in the first quarter and 18 midway through the second before unleashing a superb comeback to shock the title-chasing Eagles.

Anthony Paez was unsurprisingly the hero for Worcester as he scored a game-high 31 points including the match deciding basket with 25 seconds on the clock to complete a 7-0 run in the final 52 seconds for Wolves.

Earlier Newcastle had dominated the first quarter. Trey Moore hit three of the Eagles six three point shots, which gave them a healthy 15-29 lead. And when Charles Smith put the visitors 19-37 in front at a couple of minutes of the second quarter it seemed as though the win would be heading back to the north east.

Wolves began to gradually chip away at the lead, bringing it back to single digits courtesy of Paez at 34- 43 and then a 12-3 run made it a one point game at 46-47 before the half ended 46-49.

After the see-saw nature of the first half the third quarter was a more even affair. Wolves briefly took the lead at 58-55 before Newcastle went up by five (60- 65). Paez levelled the scores at 67-67 heading into the final stanza.

A 6-0 start to the fourth quarter game Wolves their biggest lead of the night at 73-67, but it was Eagles six point lead at 80-86 that seemed to be the crucial moment.

However, the final minute belonged to Worcester as a three from Uzkuraitis and twos from Funn and Paez secured the victory.
