Newcastle Eagles Women’s head coach Chloe Gaynor eagerly awaits the club’s upcoming annual ‘Big One’ game, which this year sees the club set-out for an even bigger spectacle.
This will be the sixth time the Eagles have set their sights on breaking their women’s games attendance record after previously having had over 1,300 basketball fans in the Vertu Arena.
On Thursday 2 April, the eve of Good Friday and the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, the Eagles are aiming for a full house when they take on Manchester Basketball.

Both as a player and head coach, Gaynor has been involved in many ‘Big One’ fixtures through her years at the club and knows the wide-reaching impact these games have to both the team’s performance and future of women’s basketball across the region.
“Playing on the ‘show court’ is something we have been striving to achieve as a programme. It will make for a greater experience for players and fans alike”, said Gaynor.
“It’s a court we are familiar with and are looking forward to playing on, and this game will go to show where we can help progress the sport too on a regular basis.
“I’m excited for the team to be able to experience what a fortress the Vertu Arena can be when its main stands are packed!”
Tickets for this special 7:30pm tip-off on Thursday 2 April against Manchester are available now from the Newcastle Eagles Box Office.
Existing ticket purchasers, season card holders and sponsors have been emailed about seat reallocations for this game.
Sponsorship opportunity and VIP Hospitality packages are also available by contacting the club.
