The Super League Basketball (SLB) draw for the next stages of two of its competitions was broadcast on DAZN at half-time during Friday night’s Manchester Basketball vs Cheshire Phoenix game.
In the draw it was confirmed that the Newcastle Eagles women will play Oaklands Wolves in a single-legged quarter-final with the fixture date to be confirmed, but set for the reserved weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January 2026.
Manchester Basketball players Georgie Anderson and Kaiyem Cleary from made the draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Women’s SLB Cup and the Men’s SLB Trophy semi-finals respectively.
The winners from the SLB Trophy’s First Round games saw Leicester and Nottingham entered the draw alongside the six byed teams of Oaklands, Sheffield, Caledonia, Manchester, Essex and player-coach Gaynor’s Eagles.
Four quarter-final ties were assigned by the open draw as follows:
- Leicester vs Manchester
- Nottingham vs Sheffield
- Essex vs Caledonia
- Oaklands vs Newcastle
Additionally, the Women’s SLB Cup semi-finals will take place as a single-leg on on the weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February 2026 and were drawn as follows:
- Leicester OR Manchester vs Oaklands OR Newcastle
- Nottingham OR Sheffield vs Essex OR Caledonia
Meanwhile the Eagles men could see an additional game added to their schedule to tip-off the new year if they progress to the semi-finals of the SLB Trophy.
Before the start of the season, SLB announced the format of its 2025/6 competitions including a new three-group structure to the Trophy with Caledonia, Sheffield and Newcastle in Group 1, Manchester, Cheshire and Leicester in Group 2, and Bristol, London and Surrey in Group 3.
The two-legged semi-finals are set for the first weekend of January, either Friday 2, Saturday 3 or Sunday 4 as follows:
- Best 2nd Place Team vs Group 3 Winner
- Group 1 Winner vs Group 2 Winner
Coach Steutel’s Eagles have tip-offs lined-up in the quarter-finals away at Caledonia Gladiators on Sunday 7 December and home to Sheffield Sharks on Friday 12 December.
Tickets for the men’s Trophy clash against the Sharks are available from the box office.
The women’s cup fixtures away at the Wolves will be announced across club and league channels in due course.
