Newcastle Eagles will tip-off in two exciting pre-season games as they warm-up to the 2025/26 Super League Basketball (SLB) and European North Basketball League (ENBL) campaigns.
The club’s popular welcome night, The Launch returns to tip things off in the build-up to the new season on Friday 5 September with your first chance to meet the players and hear from club coaching staff and management.
It’s then time to get on the floor as coach Steutel’s new-look side get their first minutes in front of a Vertu Arena crowd less than 48-hours later on Sunday 7 September against USA Select.
This touring team of American basketball prospects have played a part in many season warm-ups for Newcastle and its fellow SLB clubs, and through the years it has brought a number of now famous names across the pond and into British basketball.
USA Select have introduced talent to Tyneside since the early 2000s with a host of Eagles players, including its 2005-06 clean sweep winning team member John Bryant, 2007 Play-Offs champion Shawan Robinson, 2020 Trophy lifting CJ Gettys and new signing Malcolm Smith all hailing from the programme.
The following weekend, fans will see how we line-up against fellow SLB and ENBL opposition when Bristol Flyers travel north for a crucial pre-season challenge.
On Sunday 14 September, coach Andrea Kapoulas’ Flyers will land in Newcastle to face the Eagles just one week before the anticipated start of the new season.
Newcastle beat Bristol in the 2025 SLB Trophy Final and finished all competitions 3-2 over the 2024/25 season, so will be eager to get the ‘W’ in this their final pre-season tip-off.
The Eagles’ ENBL schedule has been confirmed for all-but one game with the SLB fixtures expected later this week ready to start the full countdown to the 2025/26 season.
