Newcastle Eagles women’s team player Shannon Hatch returns to international duty this week with a call up to the Swiss Basketball squad.
It will be forward’s sixth cap for the senior team after 14 appearances for the country at Under 16.
The 5’10 Canadian-Swiss dual-national last played for Switzerland in November 2023 at Montenegro in the first window of the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers where she put up 6 points with 7 rebounds.
New head coach Francois Gomez brings in Hatch’s experience for his first matches in charge of the senior women’s national team in this November international window.
Hatch and her teammates play their two qualifying matches for the EuroBasket 2025 competition this week.
First the Swiss travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina where they tip-off tomorrow, Thursday 7 November, followed by a visit to Luxembourg this Sunday, 10 November.
In the same competition, this week Great Britain’s women face Denmark in the Qualifiers tomorrow night in Manchester and are away in Sweden this Sunday.
